Sharing a trip
How do I get someone into my trip?
Open the trip, go to Settings → Share this trip. You'll get an eight-character code, a QR code, and a link — three ways to carry the same invitation. Send whichever suits. Anyone already in a trip can invite somebody else.
Someone joined, but they show as “Hasn't picked a column yet”
That's expected for a moment. When you join a trip that already has people in it, the app asks which one is you? — and until that's answered, nobody else can tell which column belongs to the new arrival. Ask them to open the trip and pick.
The code doesn't work
Invitation codes expire, and anyone in the trip can turn them off. Ask for a
fresh one. Codes never contain 0, O,
1, I or L, so if you're reading one off
a screen, those characters aren't what you're seeing.
Leaving, removing and deleting
Why won't it let me leave a trip?
Because you still owe money in it, or you're still owed some. LetsSplit blocks leaving, removing someone, and deleting a trip until the balance in question is exactly zero — otherwise a trip gets abandoned half-settled and the maths never closes. Go to Debts, record the settle-up, and then you can go. The app tells you who and how much.
Someone removed me, or I left — where did the trip go?
It's still on your phone, as a read-only copy. You can look at it and export it, but not edit it, because it carries on without you elsewhere. You can delete your copy whenever you like; that doesn't affect anybody else's.
I deleted a trip by mistake
Deleted trips sit in Trash on the trips list for 30 days. Open it and restore. After 30 days it's gone for good.
Money and currencies
How do I log an expense in a different currency?
Open the expense's details and change its currency. The app fetches the rate for that day, and you can override it — including with the exact rate your card charged you, markup and VAT and all. A rate you type is never overwritten later.
The totals come to zero for everyone. Is that right?
Usually yes — balances are what's outstanding, and a settled trip is all zeroes. If you want the fuller picture of who spent what, the printable report from the Summary screen shows cost, paid, and balance side by side.
Why won't the dashboard add up my trips into one number?
Because converting needs a rate, a rate needs a date, and “what I'm owed
overall” doesn't have one. The dashboard shows an approximate figure in your
own currency, marked with ≈, and the real totals per currency
underneath. Nothing approximate is ever used in an actual calculation.
Your data
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Every phone holds the whole ledger. Enter expenses on a plane; it catches up when you land.
Do my receipt photos get uploaded?
No. Photos stay on the phone that took them. See the privacy policy for exactly what is and isn't stored.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. Your trips stay on your phone; trips other people are still in are handed over to them so their copies keep working.

Is there an Android version?
Not yet. It's the reason the app is built the way it is, so it's on the cards rather than off them.
Is there an iPad or Mac version?
Not in this version. iPhone only for now.
